The Association

A Brief History   Cherokee Triangle Association Officers and Trustees

The Cherokee Triangle Association (CTA) was formed in 1962 to infuse new energy into a deteriorating urban neighborhood. Largely due to the efforts of the CTA Board of Trustees, this Louisville, Kentucky neighborhood was designated a preservation district in 1975. The CTA continues to champion preservation of the historic neighborhood and celebrate its rich heritage through publications, neighborhood forums and a newsletter. A juried art fair and outdoor festival takes to Cherokee Parkway the weekend before Derby in April each year.

The Newsletter

Besides this website, another news vehicle for the Triangle is the CTA quarterly newsletter. The purpose of the Cherokee Triangle Newsletter is as follows:

1. to keep members informed on current issues directly affecting the Cherokee Triangle neighborhood, including residents' responsibilities and benefits by reason of living in a historic preservation neighborhood;

2. to inform members of the activities and identities of the Board of Trustees and to answer residents' questions about those activities and respond to suggestions of residents;

3. to provide a medium for news and views of Triangle residents;

4. and to provide information about opportunities to serve the neighborhood as volunteers and information about opportunities for residents to meet their neighbors.

The print edition of our current newsletter is now available on-line.
Read it here for more details on current local activities.

If you have suggestions, complaints, questions, articles, observations, or stories you'd like to share, please contact the co-editors, Mark Lieberfreund and Lynne Lyndrup, at ctanewsletter@yahoogroups.com. If you would like to work on the newsletter, the editors welcome assistance. Call the CTA office at 459-0256.
