Cherokee Triangle Association Board of Trustees Election Process
Six trustee seats are elected to the Board of the Cherokee Triangle Association each year. Each board member shall serve a 3-year term that begins July 2008 and expires June 2011. If you are interested in serving as a Trustee, please complete the application and return it to the Cherokee Triangle Association, c/o Nominating Committee, PO Box 4306, Louisville, KY 40204, no later than Monday, March 31, 2008. You must be a current (2008 or 2050 Lifetime) dues paying member of the CTA to be eligible. If there are more applications than open seats, applicants will be listed on a ballot that will be mailed to each dues-paying Association member. Ballots should be returned to the CTA office at PO Box 4306, Louisville, KY 40204, no later than May 12, 2008. Ballots may also be received at the annual meeting where the counting of the ballots will take place. Do not submit votes by fax, as those ballots will not be valid (only one per household). The annual meeting will be held at the Highlands – Shelby Park Branch Library at the Mid City Mall on May 19, 2008 at the usual CTA meeting time of 7:00 PM. New Board members are always encouraged to begin attending the monthly meeting held in June. Basic Board Responsibilities Board meetings are held at the library in the Mid City Mall from 7:00 – 9:00 PM on the third of each month except July and December. Trustees are encouraged to attend all meetings if at all possible. Should a Trustee need to miss a meeting, notification to the secretary should be made as soon as possible. Three consecutive unexcused absences warrant dismissal from the Board. Trustees are expected to serve on at least three committees and are encouraged to chair one. Committees include: Alleys, Art Fair, Attorneys Group, By-laws and Resolutions, Concerts, External Affairs (city & county liaison, other neighborhood associations, police, utilities, public relations), Financial Affairs, Neighborhood Preservation & Development, Newsletter, and Nominating. Fundraisers include the annual Cherokee Triangle Art Fair, which is always held the weekend before Derby, and the Spring Cocktail Party. Trustees are expected to participate in these events. |
